OVERVIEW:

Danum Valley is about 70 kilometres (44 miles) west of Lahad Datu, Sabah's fourth largest town. It comprises 43,800 ha of virgin forest. It is a vast reserve of lush tropical lowland forest rich in Sabah’s unique flora and fauna. The area has been recognized as one of the world's most complex ecosystems. The Danum Valley provides visitors with ecological experience into the wilds and wonders of ancient tropical forests. The hot and humid jungle teems with a variety of towering tropical trees, lingering lianas, exotic orchids and overhanging epiphytes. Danum Valley lies within the upper reaches of Sabah's second largest river, the Segama and its tributaries.  Danum Valley is generally hilly but not mountainous. Its highest point is Mount Danum, of 1093 meters (3585 feet) in height.been recorded.

DAY 1

Early morning rise and transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport for a 50 min flight to the east coast town of Lahad Datu.  On arrival, transfer by road (2 ½ hr) to the Borneo Rainforest Lodge situated within the Danum Valley Conservation Area. The Borneo Rainforest Lodge was established so that visitors can benefit from the scholarly work carried out at the Danum Valley Field Centre - One of the world's foremost tropical rainforest research and environmental education establishments in South East Asia. After a short orientation and lunch, take a walk to the nearby Nature Trail and Canopy Walk to appreciate the magnificent jungle. After dinner, enjoy a slide show. (L, D)

DAY 2

Trek to Coffin Cliff an old burial site of the Tidong tribe. Thereafter trek to Jacuzzi Pool for your packed lunch and a cool dip if desire. In the afternoon take a walk along the Riverside Trail. After dinner proceed for a night drive.  (B, L, D).

DAY 3

Rise early and go bird watching on the Canopy Walkway. After breakfast, take any jungle walk at your leisure. Transfer to Lahad Datu airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu. Transfer back to hotel.  (B, L) END OF OUR SERVICE
